Premier League club set to offer £30m for Manchester United star: Reports
Fulham are reportedly ready to offer £30 million to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. The Scot is also on Turkish giants Galatasaray's radar, and an Old Trafford departure is increasingly likely.
TalkSPORT reports that the Cottagers are interested in signing McTominay and he could arrive as Joao Palhinha's replacement. The Portuguese midfielder left Craven Cottage for Bayern Munich earlier this summer for around £47 million.
McTominay, 27, was an important player for Erik ten Hag's Manchester United last season. He popped up with some vital goals as an impact sub, bagging 10 goals and three assists in 43 games across competitions.
Fulham are readying a £30 million bid, but this doesn't meet United's reported £40 million valuation of McTominay. He has a year left on his contract with the Red Devils but could depart his boyhood club this summer.
Marco Silva broke the Cottagers' transfer record this week by signing English attacker Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal. He cost the Whites £34 million, including add-ons.
Galatasaray has also shown interest in McTominay but reportedly failed with a £13 million bid. The Turkish giants could return for the 52-cap Scotland international, who they faced in the UEFA Champions League last season.
Erik ten Hag suggested he wanted Scott McTominay to stay at Manchester United
Ten Hag spoke highly of McTominay throughout last season when the Scot came to the fore on several occasions. He scored memorable winners in wins against Brentford (2-1) and Aston Villa (2-1).
The Red Devils boss spoke about McTominay's future while the team was away for the club's pre-season tour of the United States. He said (via transfer expert Fabrizio Romano):
"If you score 10 goals in a season and perform very well for Scotland there will be interest. We want to actually keep him because he's a very important player for us. We've seen what he can contribute last season."
Manchester United are undergoing a rebuild which could lead to a new-look midfield. Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. He's reportedly agreed on personal terms but the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee.
Ugarte's potential arrival could come amid McTominay's departure, although Ten Hag will likely have the final say. The Dutchman is probably unable to guarantee the Scot a starting role next season.
