Premier League club submit €80 million bid to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler: Reports
Newcastle United have reportedly submitted an €80 million bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler in the summer transfer window. This is according to Defensa Central, who reported that the Magpies want to make the player a part of their PIF project (via CaughtOffside).
The Turkey international is considered one of the best young talents in Europe. He had a stellar Euro 2024, where he scored a goal and bagged two assists in five appearances.
The 19-year-old completed a move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee of €20 million, exclusive of add-ons. However, the attacking midfielder didn't get sufficient game time in the first season with Los Blancos, partly due to injuries (meniscus damage and muscle issues) and competition.
He missed 29 matches across competitions for club and country in the 2023-24 season. However, he did impress when fit, bagging six goals in 12 appearances.
Even when fit, his minutes aren't guaranteed in the attacking midfield role, with Jude Bellingham occupying the space. With Kylian Mbappe arriving this summer, it is unlikely that Guler will be a part of Carlo Ancelotti's front three either.
Therefore, the Turkish star may be looking for minutes elsewhere, and St. James' Park may be a good option. The Magpies lack a creative midfielder and can use Arda Guler on the right-hand side when needed. He will certainly be an expensive purchase, with five years left on his current deal.

Several clubs, including the current Bundesliga holders Bayer Leverkusen, have been liked with a move for Real Madrid sensation Arda Guler. However, Fabrizio Romano has quashed the rumors.
Moreover, he said the 19-year-old is focused on his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he is set to play a key role in the future. Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Recent links between Arda Guler and loan move to Bayer Leverkusen are wide of the mark. Arda, key part of Real Madrid plans and not available on loan. He's only focused on Real Madrid now."
At the moment, Arda Guler's best chance of minutes in the Spanish capital club seems like the space on the right wing where Rodrygo could operate. Kylian Mbappe will likely play down the middle and Vinicius Junior will find a place on the left wing.
