Premier League coach ahead of Thomas Tuchel in race to become next Manchester United manager - Reports
Brighton & Hove Albon manager Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to become the next Manchester United manager ahead of Thomas Tuchel. As reported by TEAMtalk, Erik ten Hag's future at Old Trafford is up in the air following his side's scrappy win against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Manchester United looked in control of the game with a 3-0 lead against the Championship side on Sunday, April 21. However, they saw Mark Robins' side mount a comeback only to beat the Sky Blues on penalties.
As per TEAMtalk, Red Devils' co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is far from convinced with Ten Hag and is looking to bring a new manager in the summer. Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is thought to be regarded very highly by the British billionaire and his recruitment team.
The report also claims that Brighton are already preparing for the future beyond the Italian manager. The Seagulls have already entered preliminary talks with Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as a potential successor to De Zerbi.
De Zerbi has made a name for himself in European football with his unique, attractive and eye-catching style of play. He has been a revelation at Brighton since replacing Graham Potter in September 2022 and led the club to a sixth-placed finish in his first season.
As per the aforementioned report, Manchester United could face competition for their top managerial target, with Chelsea also eyeing a swoop for the Seagulls boss. However, Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be given more time to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United considering a €40 million offer for PSG target: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly considering a €40 million move for Real Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin. As reported by El Nacional, the Red Devils are admirers of the Ukraine international also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Lunin has stepped up big time filling in for Real Madrid's first-choice keeper Thibaut Courtois during the Belgian's absence due to injury. Los Blancos signed Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea after Courtois' injury but Lunin has usurped the Spaniard in Carlo Ancelotti's pecking order.
Lunin has made 28 appearances across competitions this season, keeping 12 clean sheets. However, the 25-year-old is ready for an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu in search of regular playing time.
Manchester United have shown interest in the Ukrainian although they have Andre Onana as their first-choice between the sticks.
Onana has had a mixed debut season at Old Trafford but it would be quite unlikely that he could be overtaken by Lunin as the first-choice. The Red Devils keeper has kept 12 clean sheets in 44 appearances across competitions but has conceded 72 goals in the process.
