Premier League defender's agent confirms Barcelona interest - Reports

According to Diario AS (via Barca Universal), Sergio Reguilon's agent has confirmed Barcelona's interest in the Tottenham Hotspur defender. Barca are reportedly in the transfer market to strengthen their left-back spot.

Alejandro Balde's injury last season left the club short of options. Moreover, the youngster has played only 20 minutes during the US pre-season tour. Joao Cancelo often deputized for him during the 2023-24 season but the Portuguese full-back returned to Manchester City following the culmination of his loan spell.

Reguilon spent the 2023-24 season on loan at two different clubs, initially at Manchester United and then the remainder of the season at Brentford. His contract with Spurs is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Barcelona could be able to wrap up a cut-price deal for Reguilon under current circumstances. It could prove to be an effective solution as the Spaniard has ample La Liga experience under his belt.

He has so far played for clubs like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla in Spanish top-tier football. Reguilon, in fact, is an academy product of Los Blancos and spent 15 seasons under the club's set up after joining at the age of nine.

He made 22 appearances for Real Madrid's senior team and also played 38 and 12 games for Sevilla and Atletico Madrid respectively. The six-time Spain international has 56 La Liga games under his belt, scoring twice and registering six assists.

Reguilon has also plied his trade in English football since his move to Tottenham Hotspur, playing for clubs like Manchester United and Brentford. The 27-year-old could become an unexpected yet useful signing for Hansi Flick's side.

Julian Araujo joins Premier League side from Barcelona: Fabrizio Romano

While Barcelona might be on course to recruit a Premier League full-back, they have offloaded one to the English top flight. Julian Araujo is set to complete a €10 million move to Bournemouth, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports.

There's no buy-back or sell-on clause in Araujo's contract and the California-born Mexico international is set to travel for his medical on Sunday, August 11. Since his 2023 arrival from LA Galaxy, Araujo didn't play a single minute for the Catalan club's first team.

His late contract registration in February 2023 forced the defender to train under Rafa Marquez with the youth side during the remainder of the 2022-23 season. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Las Palmas and is now reportedly on his way out of Barcelona.
