Premier League side eye Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager after Manchester United exit: Reports
Newly promoted Premier League outfit Leicester City are allegedly keen to appoint ex-Manchester United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager.
The Foxes, who lifted the Premier League title in 2016, have struggled to replicate last season's success under manager Steve Cooper this campaign. They are 15th in the Premier League standings with just 10 points from 11 outings with a sub-par goal difference of -7.
Now, according to The Sun, Leicester are currently keeping a close eye on Cooper with the team winning four of their 13 total games this season. They have identified ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter and Van Nistelrooy as potential successors to their current manager.
Van Nistelrooy, who guided PSV Eindhoven to two trophies in the 2022-23 season, recently left his role at Manchester United following Ruben Amorim's appointment. He helped the Red Devils register three wins and a draw in four games, scoring 11 goals in the process.
On the other hand, Leicester will next lock horns with Chelsea in a Premier League encounter at King Power Stadium on Saturday (November 23).
Manchester United urged to sign 25-year-old
Speaking to betting website BoyleSports, ex-Red Devils striker Louis Saha insisted that Manchester United should sign Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen in the future. He said (h/t Metro):
"If you look at the stats, Manchester United should go after Victor Osimhen over Viktor Gyokeres, it's as simple as that. He's been scoring goals for four years at Napoli and has done exactly the same since joining Galatasaray, scoring goals for fun. He is a huge character and has the confidence to be a success everywhere he goes."
Likening the Nigerian superstar to Erling Haaland, Saha concluded:
"I think there is a bit more of a guarantee behind him given the amount of time he has been successful. He is a big game player and he loves the game, he doesn't care how his goals go in, he just wants to score and that's what he does. He is very focused and he reminds me of [Manchester City striker] Erling Haaland in that sense. I think he could be what Manchester United need."
Earlier this summer, Osimhen was allegedly linked with the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Arsenal. However, he left Napoli on a temporary switch and joined Turkish giants Galatasaray in the end.
Osimhen, who will turn 26 next month, has opened his 2024-25 season on a stellar note. The former LOSC Lille striker has scored eight goals and laid out four assists in nine games across competitions for his club.
