Premier League side keen on signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea - Reports
West Ham United are reportedly looking to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea. The Hammers see the English star as a player who can help improve the squad.
As per a report in TBR Football, Chelsea are looking to offload Sterling this summer and West Ham have shown interest. The 29-year-old has three years left on his contract, but the Blues do not see him as a part of their plan.
The forward has also been linked with a move to the MLS but the report claims he is not looking to make the switch to the United States yet. Sterling wants to continue in Europe for a while before considering offers from elsewhere.
The report comes just weeks after Chris Sutton predicted Sterling would leave Chelsea. He said (via Football London):
"He will probably end up at Crystal Palace or somewhere like that, I suspect. I thought his goal was excellent at the weekend [against Nottingham Forest]. We aren't party to what goes on at the Chelsea training ground and clearly [Mauricio] Pochettino feels there has been a dip in form. We know what a talented player he is. But he does look like a player who needs to kick-start his career."
Raheem Sterling has played 81 matches for Chelsea – scoring 19 times and assisting 12 times.
Raheem Sterling left Manchester City for Chelsea because of game time
Raheem Sterling admitted that he left Manchester City because of the lack of chances. The Cityzens had signed Jack Grealish and Pep Guardiola was keen on using the new signing over Sterling.
Sterling told the media (via ESPN):
"Since the age of 17, I have been a regular starter. But to get to a peak time in my career to and be playing as regular was something I didn't want to accept. I tried to fight and change the scenario but it didn't come. At first, I had a few options but this was the one that was tailor-made for my personal goals."
"It made a lot of sense for my family and with the direction of the club. They have been in four or five finals in the last few years and it made a lot of sense. Raheem Sterling is also a target for Saudi Pro League clubs but the forward is not looking to leave for the Middle East.
