Premier League side launch €150 million bid to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid: Reports
Premier League giants Manchester City have allegedly lodged a mammoth offer to lure Rodrygo away from Real Madrid in the near future.
Rodrygo, who was said to be linked with Pep Guardiola's outfit earlier this summer, has endured a loss of prominence at his current team this season. Owing to Kylian Mbappe's arrival, he has been linked with a move away from Carlo Ancelotti's outfit in the past few months.
Now, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.net, Manchester City have lodged a €150 million bid to sign Rodrygo. They are said to be big admirers of the Santos academy product's pacy and aggressive style of play.
However, Real Madrid are unwilling to let go of Rodrygo as they deem the forward as one of their most valuable assets. But, they could be tempted to offload the star should City improve their offer to €170 million.
Rodrygo, whose current deal will run out in June 2028, has featured in 229 outings across all competitions for Los Blancos. He has found the back of the net 57 times and laid out 43 assists for his current club so far.
English giants keen to sign Real Madrid target
In his column for Caught Offside, journalist Christian Falk claimed that Manchester United are in the transfer race to rope in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies. He wrote:
"Manchester United have a chance, but he's not really cheap. Davies wants a minimum of €15 million-a-season and a sign-on fee of around the same amount. I'm not sure if United are willing to pay this money."
Sharing more thoughts on United's interest, Falk continued:
"You see when they brought in Noussair Mazraoui, he was a really cheap option. I know that their first option would have been Jeremie Frimpong but he was too expensive (with a release clause of €40 million for United). I'm not sure if they want to spend so much money on a left-back."
Claiming that Real Madrid are ahead of United, Falk concluded:
"Real Madrid really want Davies, so if United want to get concrete they have to pay this money. I wonder if other positions might very well be more important for the club. Alphonso Davies, I think, would be open to the move, but Real Madrid are a little bit closer."
Davies, who has helped his club lift 13 trophies so far, has registered 11 goals and 34 assists in 208 overall appearances for the Bavarians.
The 24-year-old left-back's current contract will expire next June.
