PSG plotting world-record €250 million bid to sign Kylian Mbappe replacement: Reports
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly hoping to launch a €250 million move to sign Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, who has been earmarked as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Earlier this June, Mbappe was officially announced as a Real Madrid star after the Frenchman left the Parisians at the end of his deal. The 25-year-old forward, who is currently participating at the UEFA Euro 2024, will reportedly earn €15 million-a-year in his new deal.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, PSG have identified Yamal as a replacement for the France captain. They have informed Barcelona about their interest and are willing to splash €250 million to sign Yamal.
PSG, who set the current transfer sum record of €222 million after signing Neymar in 2017, have a chance of signing Yamal this summer. Barcelona, who are dealing with a economic crisis, could be forced to offload their academy graduate should a sizeable bid is tabled.
Yamal, 16, relished a breakout season at Barcelona in the 2023-24 campaign. He started 30 of his 50 appearances across competitions for his boyhood club, netting seven goals and contributing 10 assists.
Should the 10-cap Spain international move to PSG, he would emerge as a crucial squad member for them. He would offer competition to his ex-Barcelona teammate Ousmane Dembele on their right flank.
Dani Carvajal says Kylian Mbappe will help Real Madrid win host of trophies next term
Speaking to AS, Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal claimed that Kylian Mbappe's arrival would help his club become favorites to win every trophy next campaign. He said (h/t Yahoo! Sports):
"A player of his stature is going to give us a lot and I think that by wearing our shirt, surrounded by very good players, he will make us candidates for everything again. Hopefully, that will be the case and we will continue to win titles."
Asked about Joselu's potential exit to Al-Gharafa, Carvajal responded:
"Joselu is my family. He is someone very special. I feel sad because we were together everyday and we made plans. The children playing, holidays, going to training together, travelling... I understand his position. Mbappe is coming, Endrick in attack and he could have a lower level of participation. And he gets an offer that's absolutely irresistible and that's understandable."
Mbappe, who has bagged one goal for France at the Euro 2024 so far, contributed 44 goals and 10 assists in 48 matches for PSG last term.
Joselu, on the other hand, scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 49 games across competitions for Carlo Ancelotti's side last season.
