PSG set to make surprise move for top Manchester United target - Reports
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United target Kim Min-Jae in the summer.
The South Korean defender has been formidable for Napoli and is considered by many as the best defender in the Serie A this season. He has helped his side keep 16 clean sheets in 33 league appearances, enabling them to lift the Scudetto.
As per RMC Sport, PSG are interested in bringing Min-Jae to the Parc des Princes this summer. The club's advisor Luis Campos has already held initial meetings with the defender's representatives. However, a deal has not been agreed upon yet as the South Korean international has other suitors as well.
Manchester United are also interested in signing the defender and have also held talks with Min-Jae's agent. The Red Devils could see the likes of Harry Maguire leave the club in the summer. While Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have done well, United may look to add more depth to their defense ahead of the upcoming season.
PSG, meanwhile, are also looking to strengthen their defense with Sergio Ramos' contract expiring in the summer.
Min-Jae, 26, could be an excellent addition to either club as he has been brilliant since joining Napoli from Fenerbahce for €18 million last summer. He has helped them keep 20 clean sheets in 44 games across competitions.
He also received immense appreciation for his performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, helping South Korea reach the Round of 16.
PSG target's entourage speaks about links with Manchester United
Kim Min-Jae has been linked with a move to Manchester United. However, his entourage have stated that there has been no agreement so far. They revealed that the Red Devils have had a long-standing interest in the South Korean defender as well.
Min-Jae's representatives said (via Fabrizio Romano):
“It’s not true that a deal is closed with Manchester United. There is no hurry for the future. United have been interested in Kim since he was in China, we only spoke but I repeat: there has been no concrete contact."
Min-Jae's current market value (as per Transfermarkt) stands at €50 million. However, with his contract expiring in 2025 and interest from multiple clubs, Napoli are expected to demand a higher fee.
