Real Madrid and Bayern Munich could be involved in surprise swap deal involving Alphonso Davies: Reports

According to reports, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich could be involved in a swap deal for Ferland Mendy and Alphonso Davies this summer.

As per a report in L'Equipe, Davies is the first-choice left-back option for Real Madrid this summer. The Spanish side are ready to splash the cash to sign the Canadian full-back.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have set sights on Mendy as the ideal replacement for their left-back. They have reportedly accepted that they could lose the defender this summer, as he has just a season left on his contract and has not signed a new deal yet.

L'Equipe are now reporting that the two sides could work out a swap-deal with the two left-backs switching sides. However, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Liverpool are also interested in Mendy and will put in tough competition for his signature.

Bayern Munich offer lucrative contract to Real Madrid target

Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that they have put a lucrative offer for Alphonso Davies on the table. He wants the defender to make a quick decision, as they cannot afford to drag the talks for another season. He told the media (via ESPN India):

"I can say we made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in life, you have to say yes or no. No club wants to lose players for free."

Eberl added:

"We are not under pressure. There is a normal relationship between player and club. That is completely normal. We think that we have made a very fair and correct offer. At some point in life, you have to say yes or no, that's the way it is."

The Real Madrid target's agent was not willing to make a quick decision and said (via The Mirror):

"We will decide how to proceed at the end of the season when there is more clarity. It's unfair that Alphonso is now being attacked. We were close to an agreement a year ago. Then the entire club management was replaced. We didn't hear anything for seven months. Now we are being given an ultimatum and are supposed to react within two weeks because the club is under pressure and took a long time to reposition itself in the management. That's not fair. It's a very important contract in Alphonso's career and we're supposed to make the decision without knowing who the coach will be next season or what the team looks like. That's why we think it's unfair to react to the ultimatum."

Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the Real Madrid target this summer.
