Real Madrid can sign top defensive target for €50 million this summer - Reports
Real Madrid have reportedly been given a boost in their pursuit of highly promising full-back Alphonso Davies. With the left-back entering into the final year of his contract, Bayern Munich have been forced to contemplate his departure this season rather than losing him on a free next season.
According to Fichajes, the 15-time European champions were hoping to sign Davies on a cut-price deal but the German giants have slapped a €50 million price tag on the Canadian. This may force the La Liga giants to wait till next summer if they decide against splashing the cash for the 23-year-old.
Left-back has been a constant problem for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ferland Mendy's injury struggles forced the club to re-sign their youth graduate Fran Garcia from fellow La Liga side Rayo Vallecano. With Garcia's mixed performances, the Italian was forced to play midfielder Eduardo Camavinga there.

Despite being just 23 years old, Alphonso Davies is regarded as one of Canada's greatest exports in the world of football. He has already amassed 47 senior international appearances and holds many men’s National Team records such as being the youngest player to debut and score for Canada.
The full-back, who possesses pace and is adept at both ends of the field, has been instrumental in Canada's as well as Bayern's recent successes. The dynamic defender has been a key cog in the Bayern side, winning five consecutive Bundesliga titles and the Champions League since signing for the club in January 2019.
The Canadian national team under the leadership of Davies, who was named as the national team's captain by manager Jesse Marsch, reached the semis of the 2024 Copa America.
Davies spoke about how Marsch helped him in his development by pushing him out of his comfort zone and teaching him key aspects of captaincy.
"I always think I bring my experience on the pitch, but being more vocal, especially off the pitch; he told me about doing the team’s speeches. I’m usually not the one that does the team speeches, I just say ‘Let’s go boys,’ but he challenged me that way, getting me out of my comfort zone for sure,” said Davies.
With international duties over and the domestic season to start, talks about Alphonso Davies' future will pick up pace as Real Madrid's interest intensifies.
