Real Madrid consider making move for Manchester United star next summer: Reports
Real Madrid are allegedly interested in adding Manchester United ace Diogo Dalot to their star-studded ranks before the 2025-26 campaign.
Dalot, 25, has established himself as a vital starter for the Red Devils since leaving Porto for £19 million in the summer of 2018. He has helped his club lift one FA Cup trophy and one EFL Cup crown so far.
The 22-cap Portugal international relished a fine campaign despite his team's poor performances last time around. He started 48 of his 50 total appearances, bagging three goals and registering five assists.
Now, according to GiveMeSport, Real Madrid have earmarked the Portuguese star as a potential future signing. They are currently on the hunt for a top right-back as Daniel Carvajal will turn 33 next year.
Dalot, whose Manchester United deal will run out in June 2028, has registered six goals and 10 assists in 157 overall games for his club. Carvajal, on the other hand, has found the back of the net 13 times and provided 64 assists in 416 matches for Real Madrid so far.
Erik ten Hag offers insight into former Real Madrid star's future at Manchester United
After his side's FA Community Shield loss to Manchester City earlier this Saturday, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that Casemiro is vital to his team. He told reporters (h/t Metro):
"Casemiro? I don't think it is about the system. Since a long time he has a pre-season so he is very fit in the moment. As a team, we work very well and that is easier for Casemiro. He is a great player and can bring his skillset. He is very important for our team."
Asked about the ex-Real Madrid midfielder's future, Ten Hag replied:
"I don't have any signal he won't stay at the club. We are very happy with that."
Casemiro, who has lately drawn scrutiny from fans and pundits alike, has allegedly emerged as a potential outgoing for Manchester United this summer. He has lately been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Asked to opine on Manchester United's recent loss, Ten Hag replied:
"We managed to be on an equal level. By getting [Marcus] Rashford high on the pitch and good defending, we did that very well. We got pressure in the ball and also in possession, in the overloading situation in the midfield, we had some very good spells, very good play-throughs and created chances. The positive is we can compete with City. We have to take this belief into the league."
The Red Devils, who finished in eighth place last term, will begin their new Premier League season against Fulham this Friday (August 16).
