Real Madrid considering move for defender who has agreed to join Premier League club for £39m this summer: Reports

Real Madrid have reportedly set sights on signing Pedro Porro from Tottenham Hotspur. The Spanish giants are hoping to lure the right-back as they continue their search for a Dani Carvajal replacement.

As per a report in Mundo Deportivo, Carlo Ancelotti has asked Real Madrid to sign a right-back this summer. They have Juan Foyth, Reece James, and Jeremie Frimfong on top of their list, but a new name has now been added.

The Spanish publication claims Los Blancos are keen on Porro, despite knowing that his move to Tottenham will become permanent in the summer. Spurs have an obligation to sign him at the end of the season for £39 million.

But Real Madrid are confident of luring the former Sporting star to the Santiago Bernabeu. They want to upgrade from Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez and are determined to land Porro.

Real Madrid target keen on doing well at Tottenham

Pedro Porro spoke to Sky Sports last month and admitted that he knew why Sporting were adamant about not selling him. However, he is happy to have joined Tottenham and added that he wanted to make the move.

He said:

"I am a player who has a very strong mentality. I was playing right up until my final day there, not knowing what was going to happen. I didn't want to disrespect my previous club. That's what I'm like. I'm a guy who likes things to be done in the right way.
"I understood Sporting's stance as much as I understood Tottenham's. They didn't want to lose a player in January and have to buy another one. But it was a matter for the clubs. In the end, it worked out well and now I'm here, which is the main thing."

Porro added:

"I was calm, to tell you the truth. Yes, of course, I was p****d off straight afterwards, because it was my debut and things hadn't gone well. That's normal. If you don't have the ambition to always do your best, then you don't have anything. But, honestly, I didn't take it that badly. It was just one game and I know what football is like. One day, you can make three big mistakes; the next day, you can score two goals and get an assist."

The Real Madrid target has played 12 matches in the Premier League this season and scored twice.
