Real Madrid considering option to re-sign player they sold in 2024 to bolster squad - Reports

Real Madrid are reportedly considering re-signing centre-back Rafa Marin from Napoli. They sold him in the summer of this year but are now looking for options amidst their injury issues.

Dani Carvajal will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury he suffered in October. Eder Militao has also suffered the same fate. David Alaba is expected to return to action by January after recovering from an ACL injury himself. However, with Los Blancos set to compete in over five competitions this year, they need to strengthen their backline.

As per journalist Mario Cortegana (via Madrid Xtra), Real Madrid have identified Rafa Marin as a potential signing in the January transfer window. The Spaniard came through the club's academy but never made a senior appearance for the Spanish giants. He then moved to Napoli for a reported fee of €12 million in the summer.

However, Marin has made just one appearance for the Italian side, which came in a 5-0 win over Palermo in the Coppa Italia second round. He has been on the bench for every other game but hasn't made an appearance in the league.

Real Madrid have a buy-back clause in the Spaniard's contract but it can only be activated in the summer of 2026. It will be €25 million then and will increase by €10 million the following year.

Real Madrid will have Rodrygo Goes back for their next clash, which is against Getafe at home in LaLiga on Sunday, December 1.
