Real Madrid identify Bundesliga ace as Trent Alexander-Arnold alternative after Dani Carvajal horror injury: Reports

According to a report by journalist Ekrem Konur, Real Madrid are looking at Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal if their move for Trent Alexander Arnold fails. The Dutch fullback was a key member of the Bayer Leverkusen team that went almost undefeated last season.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman's contract with the Premier League giants expires in the summer of 2025. However, the Spanish giants are reportedly considering another option if Alexander-Arnold opts to stay with his boyhood club.

Frimpong joined the reigning Bundesliga champions in 2021 for a reported €11 million fee from Celtic and has gone on to play 11267 minutes for them across 152 games. He has helped the team's cause with 26 goals and 37 assists to help them claim a League and Cup double last season under Real Madrid alumni Xabi Alonso.

With Dani Carvajal's injury and Frimpong's reported £34 million release clause, the defender looks like a bargain signing for the Spanish giants if the move for Trent Alexander-Arnold fails.

Real Madrid lines up January move for Trent Alexander-Arnold amid Dani Carvajal injury-reports

According to a report by Sport (via Goal), Real Madrid are lining up a move for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in the January transfer window following Dani Carvajal's recent injury. The Los Blancos icon was recently struck with an ACL injury during the final stages of his side's league win over Villarreal.

Carvajal's injury sees the Madrid-based club down to only Lucas Vazquez who has any experience playing at right-back and only six senior defenders in the squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold would provide the team an option to strengthen the position and provide a long-term successor to the Euro 2024 winner.

The Premier League star is currently in the last year of his contract. The Englishman has played 319 games for Liverpool and bagged 19 goals and 83 assists in his time with the club.
