Real Madrid line up 2 potential replacements for Carlo Ancelotti following recent poor form - Reports

Real Madrid reportedly consider Raul Gonzalez and Santiago Solari as potential mid-season replacements for Carlo Ancelotti, according to MARCA (via GOAL). This comes after AC Milan secured a 3-1 win over Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League on November 5.

In the ongoing 2024-25 campaign, Ancelotti has struggled to deliver as the manager. Despite registering 24 points from 11 LaLiga games, Los Blancos are nine points behind league leaders Barcelona although they have a game in hand.

Ancelotti's men have secured six points from four games in the UEFA Champions League and are ranked 18th in the league phase standings. The manager has also struggled to find a tactical pattern that fits summer signing Kylian Mbappe.

Due to the current complexities, Real Madrid's hierarchy are reportedly weighing their managerial options if they decide to dismiss Ancelotti.

Raul Gonzalez, the current manager of Real Madrid Castilla, is among the options. However, his team have only secured one win in Group two of the Primera Federacion this season. Raul's men are ranked 16th in the standings, having registered nine points from 11 league games.

Another option being considered is Santiago Solari, who has previously managed Los Blancos as a caretaker manager and a manager. While Solari was in charge in the 2018-19 season, Los Blancos won 22, drew two and lost eight out of the 32 games that he managed.

Ancelotti's current contract with Los Blancos expires in June 2026.

When Mbappe joined Los Blancos this summer, it was expected that he would enhance Ancelotti's attack. The Frenchman has struggled as a striker, despite scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 15 games since joining Los Blancos.

The attacking trio of Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo has struggled to play together. All three players prefer to play off the left wing, which sometimes causes them to crowd the same areas of the pitch.

The lack of attacking coordination affected Los Blancos in their 4-0 loss to Barcelona in LaLiga and 3-1 loss to AC Milan in the UCL.
