Real Madrid make contact with Bundesliga star's camp as they step up transfer pursuit: Reports

According to a report by Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid have made contact with Florian Wirtz's camp as they step up to sign the talented midfielder. The reigning UEFA Champions League holders are hoping to recruit the talented forward to their already stacked superteam.

Wirtz was a crucial part of the Bayern Leverkusen team that claimed the Bundesliga crown and DFB Pokal last season without falling to defeat. He played 3475 minutes across 49 games, scoring 18 goals and assisting 20.

Wirtz is contracted to the Bundesliga outfit till 2027 and Los Blancos will hope to secure a deal for his services. Bayern Munich and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on his situation. The reports suggest the reigning German champions would prefer to make a deal with Real Madrid to prevent the midfielder signing for domestic rivals Bayern Munich.

Wirtz has continued his respectable form for his boyhood club this season, bagging seven goals and one assist in 967 minutes across 14 games. He and Bayer Leverkusen next face VFB Stuttgart on Friday (November 1) in the Bundesliga. They hope to close the five-point gap between them and table-toppers Bayern Munich.
