Real Madrid rejected chance to sign club legend who offered himself to the club: Reports
Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos has offered his services to Los Blancos but club president Florentino Perez and director Jose Angel Sanchez turned down the chance to sign the defender, as per El Chiringuito TV.
During the summer transfer window, Real Madrid failed to sign Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille. The Frenchman later joined Premier League giants Manchester United.
David Alaba is already on the sidelines due to a knee cartilage issue, and it's uncertain whether he'll be able to maintain his consistency on the top level. Meanwhile, Eder Militao suffered an ACL injury during Los Blancos' 4-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday, November 9. The Brazilian defender also missed the majority of last season after he tore his left ACL in the season opener.
As a result, former Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger and Jesus Vallejo are the only first-team options available for Los Blancos. However, Vallejo has only played ten minutes for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season.
Due to the injury crisis, Real Madrid are forced to recruit new central defenders in the upcoming transfer window. Multiple reports stated that the La Liga giants are considering signing club legend Sergio Ramos in January, who played for Sevilla last season.
However, as per the aforementioned report, the club has rejected Ramos' proposal to join the club.
As per Fichajes, they are interested in signing Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk in the winter transfer window. The Dutch defender's ongoing contract at Anfield will expire in the summer of 2025.
Aymeric Laporte responds to transfer links with Real Madrid
Al-Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte has reacted to being linked with La Liga giants Real Madrid. Due to the injuries of Eder Militao and David Alaba, Los Blancos are looking forward to signing new defenders in the upcoming transfer window. Former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is one of Madrid's top transfer targets.
The 30-year-old joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in August 2024 for a reported transfer fee of £23.6 million. Since joining the Knights of Najd, the Spanish defender has made 54 appearances, bagging seven goals and one assist.
Responding to his name being linked to a move to Spanish top-tier football, Laporte said (via El Larguero):
"A call from Madrid? Sounds good. I would listen to the call. Obviously, you don't look down on teams like Real Madrid."
The 30-year-old was also a part of the 2024 European Championship-winning Spanish national team. He made six appearances for La Roja at EURO 2024, where he helped the side keep two clean sheets.
