Real Madrid to snap up Bayern Munich star for free in 2025 - Reports

According to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid will look to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies on a free transfer in 2025. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the club won't make any other signings in the summer transfer window.

Davies has long been a transfer target for the Madrid giants but a deal hasn't come to fruition. The Canadian full-back is now set to enter the final year of his contract with Bayern and Los Blancos want to wrap him up for free next summer.

Davies, 23, possesses blistering pace and is adept in an attacking sense. He has been at Bayern since 2019 and has so far made 195 appearances for the Bavarians. He has scored 19 goals and has provided 11 assists for the Madrid giants in that time.

Real Madrid already have Ferland Mendy as a left-back. Davies, though, is much younger and he is a highly-touted player. He is also expected to be an upgrade to Fran Garcia.

Davies, though, is often a back-up to Raphael Guerreiro and his contract situation at Bayern is complex. Snapping up Davies on a free transfer could be a massive addition to the Madrid giants.

After doing the same with Kylian Mbappe this summer, they could once again add another high-profile free agent to their ranks.

Rodrygo speaks about new Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe made his Real Madrid debut during the 2-0 UEFA Super Cup win against Atalanta on Wednesday, August 14. He also got on the scoresheet in his debut match for the club.

Rodrygo has now shared his take on sharing the pitch with Mbappe, hailing the Frenchman's abilities. Speaking after the UEFA Super Cup final win, he said (via Madrid Universal):

"It's the same as I did with Vini and Jude. Now another one has arrived, one of the best in the world. The coach asks us to change positions a lot and not to stand still."

Federico Valverde scored the opener (59') before Mbappe added to the lead nine minutes later. Jude Bellingham set Mbappe up for his goal and the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has opened his account.

Reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid will start their league campaign on Sunday, August 18. Last season, they won the title by a formidable margin and have further bolstered their ranks as they look to defend their crown.
