Real Madrid star Rodrygo takes stance on Manchester City transfer amid rumors of Pep Guardiola wanting him: Reports

Manchester City-linked attacker Rodrygo has allegedly made up his mind about his future at Real Madrid ahead of the start the next term.

Rodrygo, 23, has established himself as one of the most renowned attackers in the world since joining Los Blancos from Brazilian outfit Santos for €45 million in 2019. He has helped his club lift 11 trophies.

Now, according to Spanish website AS, Manchester City have earmarked Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Atletico Madrid-bound Julian Alvarez. Cityzens boss Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the star.

However, Rodrygo has no intention of joining Manchester City as he is happy with his life in Madrid. Should Guardiola personally call him, the Brazilian forward would reject the ex-Barcelona boss' advances.

Rodrygo, whose current contract is set to run out in June 2028, has made 216 total appearances for Real Madrid so far. He has netted 54 goals and laid out 41 assists across competitions for Los Blancos.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be in action against Serie A side Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup clash in Warsaw on Wednesday (August 14).

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher suggests Real Madrid transfer target will stay at club

Speaking to SPORTbible, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher shared his two cents on Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation at the Reds. The 46-year-old elaborated:

"I've always believed he would stay. It's up for debate. He's going to be the next captain, a local lad. I always think you have that greater affinity when you're a local player. I certainly did, Steven Gerrard didn't go to Real Madrid or Chelsea because it was Liverpool."

Offering his thoughts on Los Blancos' right-back options, he continued:

"You've got to remember [they] have got a decent right-back, he's just won the Euros, and I think he's won the European Cup about six times. He's not a dud. My fear is that [they] are thinking of signing him in another year's time because I don't think they're ready to offload [Daniel] Carvajal just yet. Maybe in a year's time... who knows?"

Alexander-Arnold, whose Reds contract will expire next June, is considered one of the best right-backs in the world. The 25-year-old has contributed 19 goals and 81 assists in 310 appearances for Liverpool.

On the other hand, Daniel Carvajal has found the back of the net 13 times and laid out 64 assists in 416 overall appearances for his club.
