Real Madrid suffer transfer blow as key target eyes Bayern Munich move - Reports
Real Madrid target Florian Wirtz is reportedly considering a potential move to Bayern Munich. The German midfielder is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen next summer.
Wirtz has been one of the top names in world football since the start of the 2023-24 season. He played a crucial role in helping Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal without losing a game in the last campaign. They also reached the UEFA Europa League final but lost against Atalanta. He scored 18 goals and provided 20 assists in 49 games across competitions.
Wirtz has since been linked with a move away from the German side but stayed put this summer. However, as per Sky Sports Germany, he could be set on a move away next summer. He has garnered plenty of interest from European giants like Real Madrid and Manchester City.
However, Wirtz is eyeing a move to Bayern Munich instead. The Bavarians are also heavily interested in signing the 21-year-old and he seems keen on a move as well. He wants to stay in Germany for a while before moving abroad.
Real Madrid are also heavily interested in Wirtz, which could lead to a transfer battle next summer. Bayer Leverkusen are likely to demand around €100 million with the midfielder's contract expiring in 2027.
Real Madrid linked with Bayer Leverkusen star after Dani Carvajal's injury: Reports
As per Sport Bild (via Madrid Extra), Real Madrid have been linked with a potential move for Jeremie Frimpong. It comes after veteran Dani Carvajal suffered a season-ending injury. The Spaniard suffered an ACL injury alongside two other tears in his knee in a clash against Villarreal on October 5.
Hence, Los Blancos have been linked with a number of right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman is an attacking fullback, who often plays as a right wing-back. Since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic in January 2021, he's scored 26 goals and provided 37 assists in 152 games across competitions.
As per the aforementioned report, Frimpong would be keen on a potential move to Real Madrid. However, Los Blancos have decided against signing a right-back in January 2025. The Dutchman's contract with Leverkusen expires in 2028 and as per Transfermarkt, his market value is €50 million.
Frimpong, 23, has been in good form this season as well, scoring one goal and providing five assists in 10 games across competitions.
