Real Madrid Transfer News Roundup: Los Blancos eyeing Manchester United ace, club receive Rodri boost, and more - November 23, 2024
Real Madrid are putting together final preparations ahead of their game against Leganes at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Sunday (November 24) in the league. Carlo Ancelotti's team are second in the title race behind Barcelona after 12 games this season.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos are interested in a former midfielder who plays for Manchester United. Elsewhere, the LaLiga giants have received some good news in their pursuit of Rodri.
On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from November 23, 2024.
Real Madrid eyeing Casemiro
Real Madrid are planning to bring Casemiro back to the Santiago Bernabeu, according to Brazilian news outlet Trivela. The 32-year-old left Los Blancos in the summer of 2022 to move to Manchester United and has endured mixed times at Old Trafford so far.
Casemiro was a hit in his debut campaign but his performances have dropped off in recent times. The Brazilian was already linked with an exit over the summer, and his future under new head coach Ruben Amorim remains unclear.
The LaLiga giants are attentive to his situation and are considering a move for him in 2025. Aurelien Tchouameni was roped in to replace Casemiro but hasn't lived up to the billing yet.
The Brazilian could help the Frenchman ease into the role, and Carlo Ancelotti is apparently open to the move. However, the report adds that Casemiro has no desire to leave Manchester United at the moment. He has apparently closed the door to a return to Real Madrid and remains focused on the Premier League giants for now.
Los Blancos receive Rodri boost
Rodri could be open to a move to Real Madrid. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner is a long-term target for the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy, who remain on the hunt for a new midfielder.
Toni Kroos' retirement this summer has opened up a void in the middle of the park, while Luka Modric isn't expected to continue much longer. Rodri could be the ideal candidate to shore up Carlo Ancelotti's midfield, although he is out for the rest of the season with an injury (cruciate ligament tear).
As cited by acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rodri recently said he could also finish his career in the Premier League.
"When Real Madrid call you, the best club in history and the most successful… it makes you proud and you always have to listen. It could be a possibility to finish my career in England," Rodri said.
He continued:
"I feel very good there, I love English football and Man City is a fantastic club. But Spain is my country and I keep following everything, La Liga, the clubs.”
Rodri's contract with Manchester City expires in 2027.
Pedro Porro wants Santiago Bernabeu move
Pedro Porro would prefer a move to Real Madrid over Manchester United, according to The Mirror. The Red Devils are also on the hunt for a new right-back to suit Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
Porro could be a fine fit for the job and could also be an upgrade on Diogo Dalot. Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want £58m to let him go.
However, the bigger issue for Manchester United could be the player's desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos are in the market for a right-back as well and apparently want Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold. Porro is also on their radar, as a failsafe option, so the Spaniard's desire to join them could work to Real Madrid's advantage.
