Real Madrid will look to sign Serie A star if they fail in their pursuit for Leny Yoro - Reports

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid will look to re-sign Mario Gila from Lazio if they fail to sign Leny Yoro this summer. Yoro tops Los Blancos' wishlist at this point.

Despite the Frenchman attracting the interest of several top European clubs, a move to the Spanish capital is reportedly the teenager's priority. However, if a deal isn't concluded, Gila could be brought back.

Gila, one of the fastest players in Serie A at the moment, came through the Castilla academy. He had a stellar season with Lazio after starting the campaign as a bench player. He ended the 2023-24 season strongly as one of the key defenders under Maurizio Sarri.

Gila, 23, made 29 appearances across competitions last campaign, starting all of those games. He was sold to Lazio by Real Madrid for €6 million and the club reportedly hold 50% rights of the player, meaning they'd be able to conclude a deal at half the cost.

However, other top clubs like Inter Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, and Juventus are also courting Gila, as per Football Espana. Gila has previously made two appearances for the Madrid giants' senior team.

He was sold to Lazio in 2022 and is contracted with the Rome-based club until the end of the 2026-27 season. The defender reportedly has a market value of €13 million, as per Transfermarkt.

Fabrizio Romano's recent update on Real Madrid's Leny Yoro pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid remain Leny Yoro's priority. The negotiations with LOSC Lille, though, might not be straightforward. Lille want a fee of €50-60 million for Yoro.

Los Blancos, however, would only pursue a summer move if the negotiations are on their terms as the club are not willing to spend that much this summer. They'd rather wait, as Romano told GiveMeSport, until January.

Yoro's deal with Lille runs out at the end of the 2024-25 season. The Madrid club could look to sign Yoro on a free transfer by agreeing on a move in January. Apart from the Spanish giants, teams like Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Yoro.
