Ruben Amorim adds 24-year-old Turkey international to his ‘wish list’ at Manchester United ahead of January transfer window: Reports
Manchester United have reportedly added Galatasaray attacker Yunus Akgun to their wishlist ahead of the January transfer window. This is according to a report from Turkish news outlet Sabah, which claims that the Red Devils' new manager, Ruben Amorim, is an admirer of the winger (via Sport Witness).
While the 24-year-old Turkey international primarily operates on the left wing, he's capable of playing in the number 10 role and on the right-hand side. This aforementioned report says that the Red Devils' scouts have kept tabs on the youngster and will continue to do so till January.
If the Manchester outfit are to sign Akgun, he wouldn't be an expensive purchase, with the player currently valued at €6.5 million. His price wouldn't see too much of a rise, with the attacker contracted with his employers till the summer of 2026.
Adding depth in wide areas may seem surprising, with the number of players in this role already at the club. Marcus Rashford operates on the left, while Alejandro Garnacho can also occupy this space.
Meanwhile, the right hand side sees the likes of Amad Diallo, Garnacho, and Antony fighting for minutes. Even in attacking midfield, Bruno Fernandes has locked up the role, which means Akgun would seriously have to fight for game time in either of these positions.
So far in this campaign, the attacker has played 16 matches across competitions, bagging six goals and two assists. Joining the Red Devils would be a significant step in Akgun's career, given Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Sporting wonderkid Geovany Quenda linked with a move to Manchester United - Reports
Manchester United are seemingly on the hunt for a new wide player and have also been linked with a move for Sporting winger Geovany Quenda. However, according to CaughtOffSide, the Red Devils' Premier League rivals, Newcastle United, are also soon going to enter the race for the player (via Stretty News).
It is said that a transfer for the 17-year-old will not be simple, with the player's current contract containing a release clause worth €100 million. Sporting's position on whether they would be willing to negotiate a lower deal remains uncertain at the moment. Currently, Quenda has three years left on his deal.
To date, he's made 18 senior appearances across competitions for the Portuguese outfit's senior team, bagging two goals and assists each. Quenda's former coach Amorim being at Old Trafford may be tempting for the winger to join Manchester United.
