Ruben Amorim makes it clear that he wants 28-year-old Manchester United star sold as he prepares for Old Trafford job: Reports

Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly does not see Andre Onana as his first-choice goalkeeper. The Portuguese tactician is said to have decided that the 28-year-old has no future at the club and wants the Cameroon star sold.

As per a report in El Nacional, Amorim prefers a goalkeeper who is solid with his shot-stopping and is not prone to mistakes at the back. Onana, however, has shown that is susceptible to errors in his short stay at Old Trafford so far.

Amorim doesn't see the former Ajax man as the ideal goalkeeper for his system. El Nacional also report that Premier League, Serie A and LaLiga sides are keeping tabs on the situation and could make a move if Onana becomes available.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils goalkeeper recently spoke about adapting to a new system under Amroim. He said (via BBC):

"I did watch the game yesterday. Great victory from them [Sporting], by the way. Different system, but the players, my teammates, we are all pragmatic. I think everyone here is capable to play in each system, so I don't think this will be any issue for us. We have big players, so they will step up."

Onana will have his task cut out when the new head coach joins if the aforementioned report holds any truth.

Manchester United told they should have appointed former player over Ruben Amorim by Jose Kleberson

Former Manchester United player Jose Kleberson believes the club should have appointed Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new head coach. He pointed out that the Dutchman knew the club better.

He also praised the Portuguese tactician but claimed Nistelrooy would have been a better choice. He told UNIBET (via GOAL):

"I would like to see Ruud be the manager of United, 100 percent – he has a passion for the club. He has a lot of stuff from Ferguson, and I know that they have spoken a lot from being there together. The biggest thing is that Ruud knows the culture of the club, that Ferguson helped put in place.
"He knows the club, and can make change and the players will listen to him more because he was a great player and goal scorer in the history of the club. Ruud would know how to play the locker room, how the guys are feeling, and whilst I love Amorim as a young coach and the amazing things that he has done at Sporting, I really would have loved to have seen how Ruud would do as manager."

Ruben Amorim will take over at Manchester United on November 11. His first match in charge will be against Ipswich Town on November 24.
