Ruben Amorim wants 33-year-old defender signed at Manchester United: Reports

Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly interested in luring Danilo away from Serie A side Juventus next January.

Danilo, 33, has been a key squad member of the Bianconeri since joining them for over £34 million from Manchester City in the summer of 2019. He has guided them to four silverwares, including one Serie A title.

According to Mirror, Amorim is keen to bolster his new team's defence in the winter transfer window with him aiming to play a three-man defence. Hence, the Sporting CP manager has identified Danilo as a target.

Juventus, on the other hand, could be tempted to offload the Brazilian defender as the former Manchester City man's deal is set to run out next June. Gleison Bremer, Pierre Kalulu, and Federico Gatti are all above the Manchester United target in the Bianconeri's pecking order.

Danilo, who is able to play both as a centre-back and a right-back, has featured in 207 matches in all competitions for Juventus so far. He has scored nine goals and recorded 13 assists for Thiago Motta's outfit.

During his two-year-stint at Manchester City, Danilo registered four goals and three assists in 60 total games. He helped the Cityzens lift two Premier League titles and four other trophies between 2017 and 2019.

Manchester United backed to win next contest

In his column for BBC, ex-Chelsea star Chris Sutton predicted a 2-1 league win for Manchester United in their home clash against Leicester City on November 10. He wrote:

"Manchester United thrashed Leicester in the Carabao Cup at the end of October in Ruud van Nistelrooy's first game as interim manager, but the Foxes had made nine changes from their previous league game. So I am not sure that 5-2 scoreline tells us too much about what will happen here, but I do think United will win again."

Sutton, who lifted the Premier League title in 1995, concluded:

"I have put United midfielder Bruno Fernandes back into my Fantasy Premier League team. I should have captained him last week, when he scored a penalty against Chelsea – my assistant [his son Ollie who is the 'Taylor' in their Brian Clough and Peter Taylor managerial partnership] told me to do that, but I didn't listen."

Manchester United are 13th in the table with 12 points from 10 matches, while the Foxes are in 15th place with 10 points from 10 outings.

The Red Devils have won each of their last three games against Leicester, beating them 5-2 in the EFL Cup last-16 stage on October 30.
