Ruben Amorim wants to bring 3 Sporting CP stars to Manchester United: Reports
Ruben Amorim has reportedly requested three signings from Sporting CP to join him at Manchester United should he become Erik ten Hag's successor. The Portuguese tactician is edging ever closer to taking over at Old Trafford.
TEAMtalk reports that Amorim has identified Goncalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards and Pedro Goncalves as three signings for the Red Devils. He wants to bring the trio to United to help him implement his 3-4-3 formation.
Inacio, 23, has been linked with Manchester United in the past and is an exciting Portugues centre-back talent. He's left-footed and has goals in his game, managing two goals and as many assists in 14 games across competitions.
Edwards, 25, will be familiar to Tottenham Hotspur fans as he was formerly at Spurs. The English winger has flourished in Portugal under Amorim, posting 22 goals and 28 assists in 116 games.
Ruben Amorim also wants Goncalves, 26, to join him at Manchester United. The Portuguese left-winger has been an essential asset for his manager this season. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man has registered five goals and as many assists in nine games across competitions.
Whether or not the Red Devils agree to back Amorim with an onslaught on Sporting for the trio remains to be seen. INEOS, the club's new owners, have a recruitment team in place that suggests a coach has less say in the market.
INEOS oversaw a rebuild of the team in the summer with centre-back duo Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt arriving. Joshua Zirkzee arrived as the Reds' attacking signing but has struggled to impress.
Manchester United reportedly not in the race to sign Ruben Amorim's goalscoring machine Viktor Gyokeres
One player whom Manchester United fans are dreaming Ruben Amorim brings to Old Trafford is Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish frontman has been a revelation at the Jose Alvalade Stadium since arriving from Coventry City in July 2023.
Gyokeres, 26, has bagged 57 goals and 19 assists in 64 games across competitions. He scored a sensational free-kick in Sporting's 3-1 win against Nacional on Tuesday (October 29).
Sky Sport Germany's Florian Plettenberg reports United aren't among the Premier League giants keeping tabs on Gyokeres. Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all monitoring the Sweden international.
Gyokeres is expected to leave the reigning Liga Portugal champions next summer. They are willing to sell the former Brighton & Hove Albion youngster for around €60-70 million.
