Saudi giants set to make an approach for Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford: Reports
Al-Ittihad reportedly want to make Manchester United's Marcus Rashford the latest blockbuster Saudi Pro League signing. The English forward could join Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante at King Abdullah Sports City.
UtdDistrict reports that Al-Ittihad are interested in Rashford and that Nadi Al-Sha'ab are expected to approach the Red Devils about his availability soon. He signed a new long-term contract last summer, but a frustrating 2023-24 campaign has cast doubts over his future at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford, 26, struggled last season with eight goals and five assists in 43 games across competitions. He missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the ongoing Euro 2024.
Al-Ittihad views Rashford as the ideal player to complement their other protagonists, Benzema and Kante. The French duo joined last summer but couldn't help their new team successfully defend the Saudi Pro League title.
Rashford is a top target, and the Saudi giants are also eyeing Atalanta's Ademola Lookman as a potential backup. Manchester United's position looks like they want the English forward to continue at Old Trafford, and they value him at around £70 million.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag and Rashford are set to hold talks ahead of next season. They will focus on the player's current situation and how they can get him firing again.
Rashford has been a mainstay in the United side since debuting in February 2016 at the age of 18. He's posted 131 goals and 66 assists in 402 games.
PSG could rival Al-Ittihad for Manchester United's Marcus Rashford: Reports
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly also in the race to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The Parisians still need to replace Kylian Mbappe who has left for Real Madrid.
talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook reports that the Ligue 1 giants are considering a move fo Rashford. They will make their interest concrete if they receive encouragement from the player.
Manchester United and PSG hold a good relationship and have reportedly been in contact about signing Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan midfielder is on the Red Devils' radar as they look to strengthen their midfield.
Rashford has never played football outside of the Premier League and could be eyeing a fresh start. He was forced to defend himself amid question marks over his commitment to United last season:
"Im not a perfect person. When I make a mistake, I’ll be the first one to put my hand up and say that I need to do better. But if you ever question my commitment to Man United, that’s when I have to speak up."
Rashford will want to return to his 2022-23 form, which saw him labeled one of Europe's most potent attackers. That season, he posted 30 goals and 10 assists in 56 games across competitions.
