Sir Jim Ratcliffe furious with Erik ten Hag for Manchester United comments on Dutch TV - Reports
According to The Sun, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group's other chiefs are unhappy with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag's recent comments. Ten Hag appeared on Dutch TV during Euro 2024.
He confirmed that United chiefs visited him during his Ibiza holiday and revealed that the club acknowledged their talks with Thomas Tuchel. The revelation of these intricate details has reportedly angered Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Ten Hag's future was up in the air after a tumultuous 2023-24 season with Manchester United. The Red Devils recorded their worst finish (eighth) of the Premier League era in 2023-24.
However, they won the FA Cup by beating Manchester City in the final, which eventually worked out in Ten Hag's favor, and United have decided to give the Dutchman another season.
Speaking about the club's interest in Tuchel, Ten Hag said on NOS TV (via Express):
"In Netherlands that is still thin we have CDV here and that's not allowed at all. You are not even allowed to talk to another club the moment the trainer is an incumbent."
Ten Hag then claimed that despite talks with Tuchel, United decided that they already have the best manager in him to take charge of the team next season.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe reveals why Erik ten Hag has kept his job at Manchester United
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has explained his decision to keep Erik ten Hag at Manchester United next season. The British billionaire said the club don't necessarily have the right environment at the moment.
He added that fixing the environment is more crucial than blaming the manager. He told Bloomberg (via Mirror):
"It's a sports club, it needs to be competitive, it needs a degree of intensity, but with a supportive side to it because you are dealing with players who are relatively young. It hasn't had the type of environment historically."
Ten Hag gets another season. However, he would certainly be under the scanner because of the size of the club.
