Six Real Madrid first-team stars set to miss club's LaLiga clash against Girona
Real Madrid will be without six first team stars against Girona, according to Madrid Xtra. The two teams lock horns at the Montilivi on Saturday, December 7, in LaLiga.
Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius Jr are all ruled out of the game due to injuries. Carvajal ruptured his ACL at the start of October and isn't expected to play again this season.
Militao, meanwhile, also picked up an ACL injury last month and is sidelined for the rest of the campaign. Alaba is recovering from an ACL injury picked up in December last year and is unlikely to be back until January.
Real Madrid are also without Vinicius Jr, who is nursing a muscle injury and has missed the last three games. The Brazilian has been outstanding for Los Blancos this season and they are already struggling in his absence.
Meanwhile, the Spanish champions will also be Rodrygo Goes as well. The Brazilian was withdrawn from the squad at the last minute due to a muscle discomfort in his left leg.
Finally, Camavinga picked up a muscle injury against Liverpool and hasn't played since. He won't be available for Real Madrid's game against Girona either.
Los Blancos arrive at Saturday's tie in second place in the league table, four points behind Barcelona. However, they lost 2-1 against Athletic Bilbao in midweek in LaLiga.
Will Real Madrid sign a new right-back in January?
Real Madrid could be tempted to sign a new right-back in January. Dani Carvajal's injury means that the LaLiga champions are left with Lucas Vazquez as the only senior option for the position.
Vazquez himself has suffered with injuries this season, so relying on him to stay fit for the rest of the campaign could be a risk. Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid have identified Trent Alexander-Arnold as the long-term replacement for Carvajal.
The English right-back's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of this season. The Reds' attempts to tie him down to a new deal have been unsuccessful so far.
Los Blancos could try to tempt Liverpool to part ways with their prized asset for a nominal fee in January. That would help address the right-back conundrum at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, a recent report from The Telegraph has stated that the LaLiga giants are not planning for a January move. That is because they want to sign the player for free next summer.
