"Sooner or later, you get over the s**t" - England star's wife reportedly unfollows him, shares cryptic post during Euro 2024
Charlotte Trippier, the wife of England full-back Kieran Trippier, reportedly unfollowed her husband on Instagram and shared a cryptic post on her story. The events unfolded just before Gareth Southgate's side took on Slovenia in their last Euro 2024 group-stage game, which ended 0-0 on Tuesday, June 25.
British tabloid The Express reported that Charlotte unfollowed the Newcastle United defender, after finding him missing on her follow list. She then posted an Instagram story which led to even further speculations about their relationship being in deep water.
Charlotte shared a post on her story that read:
"Sooner or later, you get over the s**t you swore you'd never get over, and it's the best feeling in the world."
Another story showed her sitting in the car, and grooving to some music while waiting to pick their children up from school. The caption of that story read:
"The sun is shining. Happy Monday angels."
Charlotte and Kieran met in 2014, with the footballer proposing to her in 2015. They tied the knot in 2016, and have two sons and a daughter together.
Kieran is currently in Germany, representing England at EURO 2024. In the absence of injured first-choice left-back Luke Shaw, he has played in all three group-stage games, helping the Three Lions top Group C with one win and two draws.
Charlotte has not traveled with her husband to Germany, instead opting to stay back in the UK with her three children.
"It's actually been a bit of a disaster" - Sources close to England FA disappointed over players' private lives coming to light
Sources close to the England national team and the Football Association (FA) spoke to the Daily Mail, expressing their disappointment over the recent controversies surrounding their players' private lives.
Just a few months ago, the controversy surrounding fullback Kyle Walker, his wife Annie Kilner, and ex-lover Lauryn Goodman came to light. Both women have traveled to Germany, complicating matters even more.
After the posts by Charlotte Trippier on Instagram suggesting problems in her relationship with Kieran Trippier, a source has claimed that things might be getting out of hand.
They said (via MailOnline):
"Gareth Southgate and the FA will be furious that their approach of trying to keep personal news about the players from appearing in the media during the Euros has failed. It's actually been a bit of a disaster because first you had Lauryn Goodman going to Germany and now there's all this speculation surrounding Trippier."
Another source added:
"All the close relatives of the England players were strictly told that news about their personal lives had to be kept out of the media because it could affect team morale and performance... It's not been easy because some people have gone out of their way to get media attention during the Euros."
England now await the results of other fixtures to find out who they will take on in the Round of 16.
