Spain's Euro 2024 star's £50m release clause 'highly likely' to be triggered by Monday amid Liverpool and Chelsea links: Reports

Reported Chelsea and Liverpool target Dani Olmo's release clause could be triggered by Monday, July 15, as per Mirror. The Spaniard has been exceptional at the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024 for Spain and has attracted plenty of interest from clubs in England and Spain.

Olmo has scored three goals and provided two assists in five appearances at Euro 2024. He registered a goal and an assist in La Roja's 2-1 win over Germany after extra time in the quarter-finals. He then scored in their 2-1 win over France in the semi-finals as well.

His exploits have seen him being linked with a number of clubs, with Chelsea and Liverpool interested. Olmo signed a new contract with RB Leipzig last year, which expires in 2027. It has a release clause worth £50 million, which is only valid until Monday, July 15. Post that, the German side are likely to demand around £60-70 million for the attacking midfielder.

As per Mirror, it is 'highly likely' that Olmo's release clause is triggered before the deadline. However, with the Euro 2024 final set to take place on Sunday, it will be interesting to see how the logistics work for interested clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool.

Dani Olmo on his future amidst interest from Chelsea and Liverpool

Ahead of the Euro 2024, Dani Olmo spoke about his future in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, amidst Chelsea and Liverpool's interest. He said that while he's flattered with the links, he's more focused on the pitch and upcoming tournament.

"I am calm and focused on what is coming, which is the Euro, which is no small thing. It is clear that it is good to see your name related to great teams in Europe and the world, that motivates me, but I am focused on the Euro and I hope we can return with the trophy.
"Then we'll see. It's nice to see your name related to the greats, but I insist, it's nothing that bothers me. I am focused on the field and then whatever has to be, will be."

Olmo, 26, joined RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020 and has since registered 29 goals and 34 assists in 148 games for them.
