Spanish international with 60m release clause willing to join Barcelona this summer: Reports

According to SPORT, RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo is willing to return to Barcelona this summer.

Olmo, a product of the La Masia academy, left the club in 2014 to join Dinamo Zagreb. He has been a key player for Leipzig since 2020 and has so far made 146 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals and providing 34 assists.

The Spain international has racked up eight goals and five assists in 23 appearances across competitions this season. Olmo is reportedly open to returning to Barca and believes the time is right given his former club's situation.

Deco has also reportedly held meetings with the player's father, Miquel Olmo. However, Deco has made it clear that despite mutual interest, a return is not straightforward due to La Blaugrana's tight financial situation.

Olmo is contracted with Leipzig until the end of the 2026-27 season and has a release clause of €60 million. The attacking midfielder has so far represented Spain 33 times in his career, scoring eight goals, including a spectacular one against Brazil in the most recent international break.

Apart from Barcelona, Manchester United are also interested in signing Olmo, as per Sport BILD. Hence, Azulgrana will have to move quickly if they are to sign Olmo in the summer.

Barcelona will only sign Dani Olmo if the club return to the 1:1 rule: reports

According to SPORT, Barcelona will only pursue Dani Olmo's signature if they return to the 1:1 rule, which is that they spend every penny they earn.

Azulgrana are currently in the 3:1 scheme, making it difficult for the club to spend a fortune in the transfer market. Hence, they have had to be content with making loan signings in the recent past.

Apart from Olmo, making Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix's moves permanent are also on La Blaugrana's agenda, making it unlikely that they will be able to afford the Spaniard's release clause.
