Spanish star speaks out on future amid rumors linking him with move to Barcelona - Reports

Spain and Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has claimed he'd contemplate his future after Euro 2024 amid Barcelona transfer links.

Williams, who has emerged as a target for Barca, was in good form for Athletic Bilbao in the 2023-24 season. The 21-year-old registered eight goals and 17 assists in 37 appearances across competitions for Bilbao.

Williams has also played 14 matches for Spain's senior team, scoring twice and providing five assists. He told COPE about a potential future transfer (via Barca Blaugranes):

"I am very happy at Athletic. It is the club that has given me everything, it is the club that has bet on me 100%, I am very happy in Bilbao and that is what I have to say."

"What I want to do is focus on the Euro cup, which is very important because if you are not 100% in a competition like this, it will pass you by and the rest, I do not know what is going to happen," he continued.

Williams went on to add:

"I have told my representative that I do not want to know anything until the Euro cup is over. I am 100% focused and my desire is to win the Euro cup."

Barcelona already have Lamine Yamal on the right flank. They are reportedly looking to sign a left winger as well. Williams has emerged as an option for La Blaugrana.

Lamine Yamal is the new star on the block. After an impressive season with Barcelona, Yamal also impressed during Spain's friendly matches ahead of Euro 2024.

Nico Williams has now opened up on his relationship with the Barca prodigy. He said (via Barca Universal):

"I tell Lamine Yamal I am his older brother, he has to respect me. I see him in his room doing his homework."

Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are already teammates for the Spanish national team, having played six games together and registering a joint goal contribution. The duo could soon share the dressing room for Barca as well.
