Sporting CP ready to waive off Ruben Amorim's notice period if Manchester United pay fee for 3 of his backroom staff – Reports

Sporting CP will reportedly waive the 30-day notice period in Ruben Amorim’s contract if Manchester United pay an additional £4 million. This fee would be for the release clause of the Portuguese manager's backroom staff. Sporting CP recently revealed that the Red Devils are willing to pay the €10 million release clause in Amorim’s contract after they sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday (October 28).

The potential for Ruben Amorim to become Manchester United’s next manager is becoming increasingly apparent. The Red Devils are currently in advanced talks with the Portuguese side over acquiring Amorim’s services. However, there is a hurdle standing in the way of the deal.

Sporting manager Ruben Amorim wants to bring a number of his coaches with him to Manchester United. The Portuguese manager is considering taking his assistant manager Adelio Candido, assistant coach Carlos Fernandes, and goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital to Old Trafford.

This decision, however, did not sit well with Sporting. They have told the Red Devils that they will pay another £4 million (around €5 million) if Amorim along with the three coaches will join them, according to The Times. If United pay the requested fee, the Sporting board will also waive the 30-day notice period in Ruben Amorim’s contract.

While Sporting’s latest demand has added another dimension to the transfer saga, it's unlikely to stand in Manchester United’s way given their strong interest in the Portuguese manager.

Ruben Amorim says ‘nothing is decided’ amid strong interest from Manchester United

While the Red Devils are intensifying their interest in Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese manager revealed that he is yet to make a decision about his future. The 39-year-old is having a remarkable campaign at Sporting, as he has won all games in the Liga Portugal in the ongoing season. His Sporting side sits at the top of the table with 27 games after nine games.

After Sporting’s 3-1 victory in the Portuguese League Cup quarterfinal against Nacional on October 29, Amorin spoke about his future. He told Sport TV;

"Nothing is decided yet. I don't know if it's the farewell game or not. There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a contract term and when I have something more solid, I will come here and tell my position, because it will be my choice. While I don't have everything decided, for one side or the other, I can't tell much more".

Amorim joined Sporting CP from SC Braga in 2020. In his four-year stay at the club, he has won multiple trophies, which include the Primeira Liga, Portuguese League Cup, and Portuguese Super Cup.
