Tottenham interested in a move for Barcelona target as summer revamp continues - Reports
Journalist Steve Kay has claimed Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Barcelona transfer target Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich. Coman has been linked with a summer exit and reports have claimed that Bayern would be open to selling the winger for €40 million while they'd also be open to sanctioning a loan move.
Barca have been touted as admirers of the Frenchman with Hansi Flick approving him. Arsenal have also been linked with a loan move for the Frenchman as Mikel Arteta looks to add a back-up for Englishman Bukayo Saka.
Kay has now claimed Spurs are also interested in the player, telling KS1 TV (via The Boot Room):
"A good player, he's struggling for game time at Bayern at the moment, a lot of good players are there. There are going to be a lot of clubs after him. I know Spurs are a team looking at him. Interestingly, there he's a part of the CAA base, which a lot of Spurs players are linked to as is Ange Postecoglou."
Kay further claimed Spurs and Bayern Munich currently possess a good working relationship. Eric Dier and Harry Kane have recently moved from north London to Bavaria. These links could spell bad news for Barcelona.
Kingsley Coman is on Barcelona's shortlist
Barcelona have been keen on bolstering their wide attacking options and Kingsley Coman, alongside Luis Diaz and Rafael Leao, are now on the shortlist. Mundo Deportivo has released the aforementioned information.
Nico Williams was the Catalan club's primary target this summer. The speedster starred in Spain's triumphant Euro 2024 campaign in Germany. However, there hasn't been any progress in the negotiations with Athletic Bilbao and a transfer looks doubtful at this point.
Barcelona are courting other options as a result and Coman is on the shortlist. He could be available on loan or in a permanent transfer. Coman has previously worked with Hansi Flick at Bayern as well.
Despite his injury issues, Coman is a player that can make a difference. He has experience aplenty in European football. Coman has played for teams like Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and now Bayern.
Coman has been a consistent performer for Bayern over the years, scoring 63 goals and providing 66 assists in 294 appearances for the Bavarians. At the international level, Coman has made 57 appearances for France, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
Barca could benefit by adding such a player but they need to fend off interests from the other parties involved.
