Rumour: AC Milan looking for a return of Andrea Pirlo to San Siro

Berlusconi will look to do penance by re-signing Pirlo in the summer

One of Berlusconi’s biggest regret is probably letting go of Andrea Pirlo on a free transfer in 2011.

Despite being rated as one of the best midfielders in the world, AC Milan decided to let go of the midfield legend. And what a bad move it proved to be as Juventus snapped him up and went on to win the Scudetto for two consecutive seasons and are currently top of the table, while Milan are languishing in a lowly 8th positions 20 points off the pace of the league leaders.

However, Berlusconi would possibly get a chance to make things right at the end of the season when Pirlo’s contract with Juventus comes to an end.

Reports from Italy indicate that Milan would be willing to give a three year contract to il professore which would be appealing considering Pirlo who will be 35 by next summer.

English club Tottenham are also said to be interested in the midfielder but will be reluctant to offer terms similar to what Milan are offering and would be looking for younger players instead.

Pirlo spent ten seasons at Milan winning the Champions league and Scudetto twice with them during the time he was in Milan.
