Rumour: Alan Pardew facing difficulties to retain Yohan Cabaye
According to The Telegraph’s report, Newcastle United boss, Alan Pardew is facing serious difficulties in retaining their star midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
The French midfielder is desperate to play in the Champions League and most likely to leave in summer. Although Pardew had yet again ridiculed any such chances of Cabaye leaving.
Cabaye had attracted offers from Arsenal, earlier in the summer, but the deal did not materialise.
Pardew will now hope to get the best out of Cabaye while he remains on Tyneside and hope to maximise the transfer fee received when he is sold.
He was quoted: “I didn’t know the general perception is that he will leave in the summer. This is a campaign which is going to be very crucial to Yohan Cabaye.
“There was a lot of speculation [in the summer] that he was going to move, but his application has been spot on.
“He is under contract with us and of course, that is where his future lies until such time as we say his future does not lie here.
“So in some ways, it is not cut and dried. But I don’t want that to appear as a negative for Yohan because it is a World Cup year for him. I think we are all aware there will be a lot of eyes on him between now and the end of June. A lot of big clubs, who would be interested in him, I’m sure.
“He has repaired his relationship with fans by his performances which have been as good as he has played for us.
“There is a real focus in him at the minute and certainly as a forward passer, he is as good a midfield player as I have worked with. That puts him in the really top bracket.”
