Rumour: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger offered Monaco job

AS Monaco will try their level best to lure Arsene Wenger back to the pricipality

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has yet to commit his future to the side beyond the expiration of his contract at the end of the season and reports suggest that his decision could be about to be made more difficult, with the Telegraph reporting that he has been offered the Monaco manager’s job.

They believe that Monaco are willing to make him the highest paid manager in world football should he agree to return to his homeland, with an offer that is said to be worth £10 million after tax.

Wenger has previously rebuffed any job offers, including both in his homeland and – most notably – at Real Madrid, but has dragged his feet over his latest contract offer at Arsenal, who face Norwich on Sunday.

The Frenchman has insisted that he is keen to sign a new deal, and has secured new contracts for a host of the club’s key players. However he has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal for himself, with criticism over his side’s performances this season and their overall progression said to have upset the Frenchman

He is expected to sign and announce his new deal after the conclusion of the season, which for Arsenal includes the FA Cup final against Hull City, but the offer of a lucrative return to his homeland could complicate matters.
