Rumour: Arsenal all set to bid for Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel
London giants Arsenal are all set to bid for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to the Emirates in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to the reports in a major Danish newspaper BT.
The 27 year old Danish international is the son of the legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and he has already attracted offers from a number of leading European clubs in the past few months. AC Milan and Manchester City are the other major clubs competing for the goalkeeper’s signature, and Arsenal will face quite a uphill battle to land this talented player.
Kasper’s contract will expire in this summer and his superb form has made him a part of the PFA Championship Team of the year for a second consecutive team this season. With Lukasz Fabianski set to leave the club and Emiliano Viviano’s loan spell coming to an end, Arsene Wenger will be looking to bolster his goalkeeping choices – who will be able to compete with Wojciech Szczesny for the first choice goalkeeping spot.
Kasper Schmiechel has already made 45 appearances in the Championship for Leicester but now is ready to finally test himself in the biggest of stage of England’s top tier football competition following his father’s footsteps.
