Rumour: Arsenal linked with Lazio's German striker Miroslav Klose
Arsenal are reportedly lining up a short term move for Lazio striker Miroslav Klose. The Metro report that the club are keen on a loan move for Klose, as their mooted move for Schalke’s Julian Draxler has reached deadlock. Experienced striker Klose would add to the club’s forward options behind Olivier Giroud and would also add to the German contingent at the club, that currently includes Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil, Serge Gnabry and Lukas Podoslki.
At 35, Klose would be a short term stopgap until the summer. He has played 15 times in Serie A for Lazio this season, scoring five goals. The German international would compete with Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner in the Arsenal forward line, and would come with the added advantage of not being cup tied for the Champions League.
Vastly experienced, Klose has 130 international caps and has scored 68 times for his national side. Klose has played most of his career in Germany, where his former clubs include Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen, scoring over 120 Bundesliga goals.
Arsenal could be set for a busy deadline day. Whilst denying that a deal had been reached for Draxler, manager Arsene Wenger this morning admitted that he is still in the market to add to his title-chasing squad.
Klose has a shot accuracy of 52% this season, with a conversion rate of 18.5%.
