Rumour: Arsenal rejected chance to sign Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov
Arsenal turned down the opportunity to sign Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov, report BBC Sport. The Gunners are in the market for a striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner and were linked with a move for Berbatov earlier in the transfer window.
However, BBC’s Chief Sports Correspondent Dan Roan believes that the Gunners were offered Berbatov, but turned the striker down. Berbatov now looks set to make a deadline day move to French side Monaco, whilst Arsenal have been linked with a move for Lazio’s Miroslav Klose.
Have it on good authority that Arsenal were offered Berbatov & could have signed him, but spurned the chance. Wonder if they'll regret it

Roan revealed this afternoon just how close the Gunners had been to signing Berbatov, alleging that the club had been offered him but rejected the move. Having so far failed to add to their striking options, Arsenal may well live to regret turning down Berbatov, who has scored four goals in 18 appearances this season.
Berbatov has scored 26% of Fulham’s league goals since the start of last season.
