Rumour: Arsenal to target Radamel Falcao in summer with money from £150 million Puma deal
Arsenal signed a record breaking deal with Puma which would see Arsenal endorsing Puma logo instead of Nike from the next season. The deal summed up to £150 million.
This deal would allow Arsenal to handover their manager Arsene Wenger a £100 miliion kitty for signings next summer. Wenger is believed to offer AS Monaco’s star striker Radamel Falcao a contract next summer, meeting his £51 million transfer fee.
Also, Wenger’s contract ends after this year. So Arsenal would hand him a fresh contract, which would keep the Frenchman at the helm of affairs for another tenure.
Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis was quoted: “We have always supported Arsene, the board has always been completely behind him as has (owner) Stan Kroenke, and Arsene has always been committed to this football club.
“So we are comfortable with the position. We are relaxed about it.
“Arsene will be extending with us. And at the right time we will make that announcement.
“The long-term goal is to increase commercial revenues and invest in our squad,” he added.
“This is very important step in terms of progression. This is the biggest deal in our history and the money from the deal will be available to the club from this summer.”
