Rumour: Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen targeted by West Ham United
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce wants to sign Arsenal center back Thomas Vermaelen.
However, the West ham boss has admitted that a deal will be difficult as Arsenal are playing in the best competition in Europe and are title contenders in the Premier League too.
Allardyce stated, “‘I think under the circumstances at Arsenal, in the position that they’re in, in the Champions League and cup matches, they’ve had to use him as soon as any of the two defenders have been injured,”
“So I don’t think there’s any chance we’ll get somebody of his quality. It would be nice if I we could.”
“I’ve had targets and I haven’t got one yet apart from Roger Johnson, so I’ll keep going and hope we get some.”
Vermaelen has not featured prominently for Arsenal and may move if a good offer arrives, however, a move to West Ham seems unlikely.
