Rumour: Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke wants to leave club, Arsenal interested

According to our sources, Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will ask the club to allow him to leave in the summer.

The 23-year-old Belgian footballer is understood to want to stay in England and would want to move to a Premier League club.

We understand that North London club Arsenal are the front runners to get his signature.

This is not the first time Benteke has wanted to leave Aston Villa. He had put in a transfer request last year but the club managed to keep hold of him after Benteke signed a contract extension which would see him stay at the club till 2017.

Benteke has featured in only 22 Premier League games this season, scoring 9 goals and grabbing 2 assists. His stock went up last season after he scored 19 goals for the club.
