Barcelona star played the last 4 games with a broken rib - Reports

Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto reportedly featured in the last four games despite nursing a broken rib. Roberto sustained the injury in the 4-2 La Liga loss at Girona two weeks ago.

The 32-year-old has been at the Camp Nou for his entire senior career, contributing 19 goals and 43 assists in 373 games across competitions. This season, he has played a bit-part role, though, scoring three goals and providing as many assists in 24 games across competitions.

Five of those goal contributions - three goals and two assists in 14 games - have come in La Liga, where Barca are looking to finish behind champions Real Madrid. Meanwhile, SPORT has reported that Roberto has played the last four games - including the aforementioned Girona defeat - with a broken rib.

Nevertheless, Roberto contributed an assist in the 2-0 win at Almeria on matchday 36 before playing 45 minutes in the 2-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday (May 19).

With his current contract expiring at the end of the season, there are reports that he could be provided a one-year extension to stay on at the Camp Nou till the summer of 2025.

Barcelona have had an underwhelming season. After winning the Supercopa Espana and La Liga titles in the preceding campaign, they are set to end the current one without a trophy.

After losing to Los Blancos in the Supercopa Espana final, Xavi's side were knocked out by eventual winners Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. They also lost in the last-eight in the UEFA Champions League, where they squandered a 4-2 aggregate lead at home to PSG in the second leg.

The defeat to Girona spelled the end of their La Liga title defence, but since then, Barca have reeled off three straight wins without conceding, scoring eight times cumulatively. They now play their last league game of the season at Sevilla on Sunday (May 26).
