Rumour: Chelsea agree record fee for AS Monaco forward - Radamel Falcao
Cash rich Chelsea have reportedly agreed a club record fee of 80 million euros for the Columbian forward, Radamel Falcao. The difficulties the club has had up-front this season is well documented. Record signing Fernando Torres is yet to give a return on his hefty transfer fee, with Eto’o and Demba Ba failing to impress.
The striking trio have scored a meagre 5 goals between them, off the 24 goals Chelsea have scored this season.
The former Atletico Madrid star, Falcao, could be the answer to Mourinho’s problems in the goals department. The mercurial striker scored a massive 41 goals for Madrid last season, third only to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He currently plays his trade with French outfit, AS Monaco and has already scored 18 goals this season.
With the young Belgian, Romelu Lukaku scoring freely for on-loan club Everton, it could mean curtains for the likes of Fernando Torres, who has scored just 40 goals off 103 appearances, since his move to Stamford Bridge.
This move will be a major boost for their title aspirations, and may be vital in their push for top honours this season.
