Rumour: Chelsea and Manchester City target Edinson Cavani may choose Manchester United
Edinson Cavani is reportedly keen on quitting Paris St Germain this summer and has set his sights on a move to Manchester United.
Cavani has been a long-term target for Man United even before his £54million switch from Napoli to the French capital last summer and his dissatisfaction with life with the French league leaders has caused them to rekindle their interest.
Both Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi have signalled their intention to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season after having become unsettled with having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a move to England is believed to be interesting to both players. .
According to Daily Mirror, source reportedly close to Cavani told reporters, “Edinson believes he would be a perfect fit for England.
“He knows that United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested and he would be happy to talk to any of them. But he also knows United seem the most keen and that is a factor.”
PSG are believed to be loath to lose Cavani just a year after having signed him for such an extravagant fee, but with UEFA having clamped down on the French club for violations of the Financial Fair Play rulings, they may look to offload the Uruguayan in order to write off some debt and comply with UEFA’s new directive.
Edinson Cavani has scored 16 goals in 29 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this season, having scored with 21.6% of his shots on goal.
