Conor Gallagher waiting for Atletico to raise cash to sign him from Chelsea following Samu Omorodion deal collapse - Reports

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is reportedly waiting for Atletico Madrid to raise their offer to sign him. The English midfielder has arrived in Madrid but training on his own as he waits for his deal to be completed.

Gallagher, 24, refused multiple contract extension offers from the Blues before he was told that he was surplus to requirements. The Premier League side struck a deal with Atletico for the midfielder, but Rojiblancos attacker Samu Omorodion's move to the Blues collapsed.

That has cast doubt on Gallagher's move to Atletico, who need to sell either Omorodion or Joao Felix to complete a deal for the Englishman. As a result - as per Matt Law DT (via Telegraph) - Gallagher has been in a hotel in Madrid, training on his own for the last five days.

It was previously reported that Gallagher had agreed personal terms with Atletico following his reported £33.7 million signing. However, the move is still not complete as the Rojiblancos seek the cash from the sale of Omorodion or Felix. The Omorodion deal collapsed at the last minute when the Blues pulled out, but there's hope for Felix to move to the Premier League club.

The Portuguese - who spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at the Blues - is apparently desirous of a return to Stamford Bridge. Felix is also willing to take a pay-cut to enable the move to go through. The move - as reported by Telegraph - could be completed for £40 million.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher played 95 games for the club across competitions since his first-team debut in the 2018-19 season, contributing 10 goals and as many assists.

Most of those goal contributions - seven goals and nine assists in 50 games across competitions - came last season under Mauricio Pochettino, who left at the end of the last season.

Gallagher played all but one Premier League game last season - bagging five goals and seven assists - as the Blues won their last five matches to finish sixth and return to Europe after a year's absence.

They had initially qualified for the UEFA Europa League, But with Manchester United upsetting holders Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final, the Europa League spot went to the Red Devils, with the Blues dropping down to the UEFA Europa Conference League instead.
