Cristiano Ronaldo holds talks with Al-Nassr and PIF delegation over potential contract renewal - Reports

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly had fruitful discussions about extending his stay at Al-Nassr. The 39-year-old's current contract at Mrsool Park expires at the end of the ongoing season.

Having arrived on a free transfer in December 2022 after more than two decades in European football, Ronaldo has had a good stint in Saudi Arabian football, scoring 44 goals in his first full season in 2023-24. That includes a record 35 strikes in the Saudi Pro League as his side finished second, behind runaway unbeaten champions Al-Hilal.

As reported by journalist Rudy Galetti (via Al Nassr Zone), before joining up with his national team, Ronaldo had a discussion with Al-Nassr CEO Guido Fienga, a PIFdelegation and a Ministry of Tourism representative regarding his contract extension.

The talks between the aforementioned parties are said to be 'positive' and that an agreement is expected soon.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old has joined his international teammates as Portugal prepare to take on Poland in Warsaw on Saturday (October 12) in their third UEFA Nations League game, having won the previous two.

Ronaldo scored in both games, including a landmark 900th career goal in the 2-1 home win over Croatia in Lisbon last month. He then came off the bench to score the winner in the 2-1 home win over Scotland three days later.

Continuing from where he had left off last season, Cristiano Ronaldo has had a spectacular start to his second full campaign with Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored in all but one of nine competitive outings across competitions, registering eight goals and three assists. That includes five strikes and two assists in six games in the Saudi Pro League, where Stefano Pioli's side trail leaders Al-Hiall (18) by four points.

Ronaldo has scored in his last four games across competitions for the Knights of Najd, including a goal and an assist in his most recent outing in the league, a 3-0 home win over Al-Orubah at the weekend.

The former Real Madrid striker has also struck once in the AFC Champions League Elite and twice (alongwith an assist) in the Saudi Super Cup, where Al-Alami lost 4-1 to holders Al-Hilal in the final.

Ronaldo's current career tally stands at 905 goals, with 132 of them coming for Portugal, a record tally in men's international football.
